The machine comprises a shallow rectangular tray (4) fitted onto a tranverse base (1). This tray has both short sides (21,22) and one long side (23,24) flanged upwards. Over it is a narrow bar (7), held in slides (5) on the transverse base. The letter is placed against one long (23) and short (21) side and the bar pressed down against spring pressure. A blade (6) presses into a rubber strip (2) underneath and marks the fold. The paper is removed, folded and re-inserted against the other short side (22) and the process repeated to give four thicknesses. An additional stop (31) provides for three thicknesses.
