Aerator consists of a rectangular grid contg. a row of transverse rods. On each end of each rod is an elastic blade with a V-shaped cross-section. In the middle of the grid, and between the two rows of blades, is an air distributor, consisting of a rectangular frame contg. a perforated plate. Air is fed through plate, which functions as a disperser and then flows through slots in the distributor frame into each blade, so numerous currents of air enter and stir a pulp being subjected to flotation. The grid is also oscillated in a vertical plane. Esp. used for the concn. of ores, but also for the treatment in enrichment processes, of coal, chemicals, foodstuffs and minerals. Very efficient distribution of the air in the pulp is obtd.
