Automatic feeder for domestic pets - uses electric motor driven cam shaft operating at one third revolution per day to open trap-doors under food bins

The automatic food dispenser controls the distribution of food to domestic animals during the owner's absnece. Compartments are provided with trapdoors operated by a rotary cam. When the trap door opens the food falls to a low level tray from where the animal can feed. The bins (2,3,4) are filled with food and covered (10). A hinged trap door (6,7,8) below a hole in the base of each bin prevents the escape of the food. An electric motor is energised and drives, through reduction gearing, a shaft carrying cams, one for each food bin. The cams are arranged so that each trap door is opened in turn, say one per day, and the food falls to the feeding tray (14).
