Wedge for splitting logs - has wedge with side splitters held in slide moving on vertical column

The wedge is to aid the splitting of logs. It has a vertical pillar (1) carried on a base shoe (2). Along the pillar slides a sliding part (3) carrying a wedge part (5). The pillar is cylindrical as is the sliding part (3). The slide and wedge can, as a result, be positioned approximately. The wedge is carried on a sloping arm (4) and has two side fitted splitters. These each consist of a bent piece of flat steel. The wedge minimises the risk of operator injury.
