The milk tanker uses the engine vacuum to draw milk into the storage tank when the normal engine air inlet is blocked by a butterfly valve. The engine vacuum is coupled to a liquid overflow trap by a pipe tapped into the engine inlet manifold. Anon-return valve (9) is placed at the coupling between the vacuum pipe and the trap. The vacuum is coupled through the trap to the top of the milk tank. If milk overflows into the trap, it forms a conducting path between two electrodes in the trap, and triggers an electro-pneumatic valve which actuates a hydraulic cylinder to open the butterfly valve, allowing air in through the air filter and reducing the vacuum in the line to the trap. The non-return valve then closes, preventing further milk intake.
