Central heating system using off-peak electricity - stores water at high temp. for subsequent utilisation at lower temp. via stratification within water tank

The system uses off-peak electricity to heat the water in a storage tank (1) to a high temp. with the water fed to the heating and hot water circuits as required at a lower temp. The water is heated by a number of resistance elements (2) controlled according the monitored climatic conditions and switched into and out of operation by a timer clock. The storage tank (1) has an expansion tank and a return feed (3) with stratification of the different volumes of water fed-in, stored and discharged. Pref. the water is stored in the tank at a temp. of 110 deg.C. and is fed to the heating and hot water circuits at 50 deg.C.
