The machine feeds workpieces to and from a machine-tool with a machining table (10), handling trays (P) upon which workpieces are mounted. It uses two pairs of parallel horizontal rails (16) mounted on a substructure (13) by the table (10), the rails locating an input tray and an output tray respectively. The substructure (13) also supports and provides guidance (22) for two slides (24) which move parallel to the rails and can engage the respective trays (P). Also mounted on the substructure is a central motor which drives two transfer arms (56) through oscillating radius arms (52) controlled by selectively actuated clutches. A transfer arm (56) drives each slide (24) and may actuate slide-to-tray couplings (26).
