The height adjustment mechanism for a seat consists of an hydraulic jack (1) with the seat being supported on the exterior mobile part of the jack. This mobile part has a locking device (2) associated with it. The locking device is operated by one or both of two pivoting, side levers (4-1,4-2) which are positioned on each side of the seat, as an extension of each other. The two outer ends (6-1,6-2) of the two side levers form supports for the side arm-rests (11-1,11-2) of the seat.
