UV lamp unit for air sterilisation - designed to save energy by operating at less than 60 per cent relative humidity

A device for sterilising air by irradiation from an ultraviolet lamp while recirculating through a lamp casing is complemented by a drier. For use in operating theatres, etc. to avoid wastage due to excessive energy (at 2537 Ang) absorption by moist air. Pref. the drier is a (heated) column packed with a desiccant and purged via a forced draught from an integral fan. An integral hygrometer is pref. used to prevent the lamp from starting ('striking') if the ambient humidity is above 60%.
