The alarm clock or alarm watch is designed to be used by a Moslem in order to be called at the right time for each of the five daily prayers, and has a clock part which controls the alarm part through a programmable unit. After the correct time is adjusted for each of the five prayers on a given day, the clock automatically gives the alarm signal on the following days. The alarm signal is the recitation of a prayer recorded on a tape or a disk; this prayer varies according to the time and the country. The clock also gives the time in the conventional manner, analogue or digital, and includes a compass which gives the direction of Mecca.
