The drawing instrument affords a simple method of producing all types of geometrical figures. It comprises a fixed but interchangeable drawing template (13), with a cut-out portion (14) of set shape acting as a guide for the drawing instrument. A support (8) for the paper etc. rotates, so that it can be indexed into successive angular positions. The support can be detachably fixed to a rotary plate mounted on a rigid base (2), in which there is a window (12) forming a mounting directly above the plate. The template is fixed in the window.
