Inlet valve drive for double overhead cam engine - has eccentric on exhaust camshaft driving rod to actuate eccentric on inlet cam

The drive opens the inlet valves (11) of a D.O.H.C. engine. The inlet camshaft (8) rotates at the same speed as the crankshaft. There is a longitudinal rod (1) with a cut-out at one end in which slides an eccentric (7) carried by the exhaust camshaft (6). The eccentric transmits a translational movement to the rod, which has, on its other end, a second cutout (13) carrying a shaft (8) for the inlet cam. This is driven intermittently on the flat of the cutout to actuate the inlet valve.
