Shampoos comprise extracts of (a) prickly pear, (b) calamus, cloves, and celery. The same extracts may be used in soaps and cosmetics. The extract of (a) is obtd. by crushing and boiling young buds and that of (b) by distilling the roots. The shampoos have a softening effect on hair and combat irritation of the scalp.
