A replacement for unrefined gutta percha in oral surgery prosthetics is a material comprising internally plasticized vinyl acetate copolymer, optionally with from 0 to 50% by weight of the material of vinyl acetate homopolymer. The copolymer is preferably a copolymer of vinyl acetate and vinyl laurate, these comonomer components being present, for example, in a ratio of 4:1 by weight.
