Clonable frament originating from the genome of a poliovirus. It is comprised of a segment hybridable to a portion of the poliovirus of the PV-1 type, said segment coding for the capside proteins and for possible proteases necessary for the spliting thereof, nevertheless essentially to the exclusion of a fragment hybridable with the terminal portion of the poliovirus, comprising at least 1.7 to 1.8 kilobases from its terminal end (3') and coding for the proteins intervening in the replication of the poliovirus.
