PURPOSE:To make variable the volume of a measuring space in a measuring vessel and to measure the activity of moisture quickly and accurately, by attaching a water permeable filter to a measuring part of the tip side of the measuring vessel incorporated with a moisture activity measuring element. A fine filter 9 (sintered material of polyethylene, glass, metal etc. having 20- 30mu pore diameter) is attached freely attachably and detachably between the end face of the part 4 and an annular projection 10 in the part 3 through a packing 11 and a wire net 12 for projection of sensor. A measuring instrument main body 1 which records and displays the time on a timer 16 until the humidity in the sealed space 18 of the main body part 3 keeps constant after the activated moisture containing in the material to be measured is diffused in the part 4 and also records and displays the humidity and the temperature on a moisture activity display part 15 and on a temperature display part respectively is connected to a sensor 7 by a connector 14. The diameter of the part 3 is about 5-6mm. to attain miniaturization and the space 18 reaches the equillibrium humidity quickly.
