METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR REGENERATINGFLUIDIZABLE CATALYST PARTICLESABSTRACTA hydrocarbon conversion-catalyst regenerationoperation is described which relies upon an upflowing fluidcatalyst mass of decreasing particle density superimposed byan upflowing dispersed catalyst phase undergoing catalystregeneration to effect elevated temperature regeneration ofcatalyst deactivated by hydrocarbonaceous material underconditions providing CO levels less than 0.15 mol percentin the flue gas. Regenerated catalyst is mixed with spentcatalyst in a first contact zone to obtain an initial mixtemperature of at least 1175°F. before contact with a second-ary oxygen containing regeneration gas stream as a part ofthe upflowing fluid catalyst mass. The ratio of hot regeneratedcatalyst to spent catalyst is restricted to obtain a mixtemperature particularly promoting the combustion of hydro-carbonaceous material with oxygen containing gas in the up-flowing dense and dispersed catalyst phase so as to providea discharged dispersed catalyst phase temperature of at least1350°F.
