The creped tissue paper may have a basis weight of 10-401b/2880sq.ft. and both outer surfaces may be creped, the crepe on one surface being different from and independent in frequency and phase from that on the other surface. A machine for making the creped tissue paper comprises a forming section 21, and creping units 96, 98 and 108, 110. Alternatively, the second creping operation may be performed off-line. The web may be formed by an air-forming technique.
