PURPOSE:To obtain a propelling apparatus free of noises and exhaust gas, by sealing a gas into a spherical glass container having turning blades therein, and obtaining a thrust by producting plasma of the sealed gas and forcing the ionized gas onto the inner surface of the glass container by use of magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:Plasma is produced in a spherical glass container 10, by sealing a gas into the container 10, passing electric current through a mercury lamp in a turning shaft 7, and then radiating strong ultraviolet rays to the gas in the container 10. Then, blades 8 are turned by a motor 1 to turn the plasma around the turning shaft 7, and current is passed through a coil 4 to make a magnetic member 3 function as an electromagnet. Resultantly, magnetic force is produced in a direction substantially perpendicular to the axis of the turning shaft 7 since it is repelled by a diamagnetic member 5 and a diamagnetic disk 9, so that positive ions of the gas is compressed onto the inner surface in a propelling direction while flowing helically around the turning shaft 7. Therefore, a great thrust is produced by the reaction force of the compressed gas.
