CONTAINER STOWAGE TYPE AUTOMOBILE CARRIER SHIP

PURPOSE:To enhace the efficiency of cargo handling for stowing containers in an automobile carrier ship, by enabling the containers introduced in the ship by a self-propelled vehicle to be carried to and stowed in a predetermined place in the ship with the use of an overhead travelling crane movable in the longitudinal direction of the ship. CONSTITUTION:An overhead travelling crane 3 is movably attached to the lower surface of a deck 2 positioned right above a container stowing deck 1, and comprises a girder 5 adapted to travel in the longitudinal direction of the ship and a spreader 4 adapted to travel in the lateral direction thereof along the girder 5. Containers 8 introduced by a, for example, trailer are suspended and carried, as it is, in the longitudinal direction of the ship along a main rail 6, thereby the containers are successively stowed in a predetermined place. In the drawing, reference numeral 9 denotes a hatch cover of pontoon type, and 10 denotes a portable car deck.
