HIGH-ACTIVITY LIPASE-PRODUCING BACTERIUM AND PRODUCTION OF LIPASE

PURPOSE:A mutant that is derived from Candida cylindracea and does not assimilate xylose is used to produce high-activity and high-unit lipase. CONSTITUTION:Candida cylindracea (ATCC14830) is cultured and a mutagen such as N-methyl-N'-nitrosoguanidine, ultraviolet rays or X-rays are used to obtain a mutant that does not assimilate xylose and produces high-unit lipase (FERM 6137, 6134, 6135 or 6136). The mutant is cultured in a liquid medium containing carbon source, nitrogen source and minerals under aeration and lipase is collected from the culure mixture and purified.
