METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PREVENTING SEDIMENTATION OF COAL PARTICLE IN COAL SLURRY

PURPOSE:To effectively prevent sedimentation of a coal particle, by detecting sedimentation of the coal particle by means of variation in electrical resistance of a coal slurry and ejecting water stream when at least a predetermined amt. of the coal particle is settled. CONSTITUTION:Pulverized coal slurry 9 introduced into a granulating vessel 1 is granulated with agitation by a stirring blade 2 after a binder 10 is added. In the granulation process, the granulated coal begins falling to the bottom at an increasing speed as the particle grows larger. At that time, electrical resistances of slurries at the top and the bottom of the vessel are measured by slurry electrical resistance measuring terminals 6a, 6b, 7a and 7b placed at a plurality of positions, and their a ratio is determined by a comparator. When the ratio exceeds a standard value, a signal 13g of commanding water injection is generated from a driving device 13 to a compressor 4 and settled granulated coal is forcedly discharged out of the vessel by injected water stream through a nozzle 5. Thus it is possible to avoid reduction of the operation efficiency and failure of running of a submerged granulator due to sedimentation or deposition of the granulated coal.
