PURPOSE:To enable stable travelling and continuous agitation of an agitating device, by adjusting a weight of the device such that it is sufficient to resist to a reaction force of a jet by jet means and adjusting a contact pressure of crawlers to a ground such that the device does not suffer from undesirable stoppage or halting. CONSTITUTION:An agitating device 1 comprises a crawler-type travelling equipment 3 having a pair of rubber crawlers 2. On the travelling equipment is supportedly mounted a body frame 4 which is equipped with an immersion mixer 5. The immersion mixer 5 is driven by a submerged electric motor 11 to rotate a propeller 10, whereby a downward jet is generated therethrough. The pair of rubbercrawlers 2 of the travelling equipment 3 is driven by a hydraulic motor 12. A contact pressure of crawlers to a ground is adjusted such that the crawlers are not buried into soft sedimentary layer, otherwise resulting in stoppage of travelling and agitating. The agitating device which is suspended with a rope, is entered through an inlet on a tank roof and lowered and stably rested on a bottom of the tank where sludge is deposited. During travelling of the device, the immersion mixer 5 operates to agitate the soft sedimentary layer which is thereby re-fluidized.
