PURPOSE:To raise heating efficiency to =5 times as high as those of conventional indirect heating methods and to enable high speed development, by shortening rising time of an apparatus to =1min and preventing staining due to matter separated from the apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A heat-developable type diazo photosensitive paper 1 having =1011ohm.cm volume resistivity is imagewise exposed to UV rays where a= 400+ or -50nm emitted from an image exposing means 2. the paper 1 is placed on a conveyor belt 4 with a feed roller 3, conveyed to a zone under a corona charger 5, and charged to =100V surface potential. The paper 1 is brought into contact with a magnetic toner 7 held with a toner attaching means 6 to attract the toner 7 electrostatically to the charged face of the paper 1 and form a toner layer. This layer is irradiated with visible or near infrared light with a lamp 8 for emitting such a light, the toner layr absorbs the light efficiently because of its dark color, produces heat, and transmits this heat to the photosensitive layer beneath this layer, resulting in heating the photosensitive layer and developing color at the image part.
