The transport system has a central statio counicating with a number of satellite stations via respectiVe pneumatic tubes. These are selectively coupled t a central turbine via electrically operated valves opened and closed under control of a central control unit. The turbine simultaneously allows a capsule to be drawn fro one end of the line while a second capsule is sent down the line in the opposite direction from the other end of the line. The central control unit optimises the traffic handled by the transport system with the valves controlled in accordance with the direction of air circulation monitored by sensors within the tubes. The turbine can supply lines of different dia.
