The appts. has a flat screen either liquid crystal or CRT with lateral electron gun, a pulse-per-min. counter and control buttons on one side of a case. The case contains the power supply and other electronic components required for the functioning of the appts. Two or more exploratory electrodes are fixed to articulated arms on the other side of the case. The addition of certain modules to the basic appts. permits its use by the patient himself. In particular, the use of interchangeable modular memory units enables the ECG traces to be stored and decoded at a later stage. The appts. has dimensions of the order of 115 by 70 by 28mm. with a screen 60 by 45mm. It may be kept in a pocket or medicine case. Its power requirements are low. Its use is rapid and instantaneous, a few seconds being sufficient to obtain an ECG trace.
