The mechanism is intended for securing (two) heat barrier strips (3) by clamping their edges between respective pairs of flanges (4,5) of sectional (aluminium) members (1,2) to produce a composite door or window frame member (1-3). It comprises (four) sets of rollers (8) of which each set bends the innermost flange (4) of one pair outwards to clamp the edge of one strip. Two sets of (conical) rollers (8) are arranged on a lower (6) and two sets on a parallel upper (7) carrier which two carriers are together drawn through the space between the sections (1,2) and strips (3). The distance between the carriers in the direction at right angles to the drawing direction is adjustable to accommodate measured tolerances in the distance between the flanges.
