Humus is prepd., pref. from vegetable waste, by activating an enzymatic reagent subjected to a fermentation phase in a suitable reactor, reacting with a mixt. of water, calcium superphosphate, ammonium nitrate and potassium sulphate, and spraying the prod. over vegetable residues. The enzymatic reagent consists of non-diastatic malt extract, magnesium chloride, common salt, bakers' yeast, giobertite, wheat flour and wheat germ. Fermentation is for 50-80 hrs. at 38 deg.C, and subsequent reaction with the above mixt. is at 45-50 deg.C. The humus is obtd. 3-5 weeks after spraying.
