The process comprises continuous or discontinuous treatment with fused oxidising salts to give an oxidised coating of controlled thickness and properties. To increase efficiency, the coiled steel is dipped in the bath at 250-500 deg.C, consisting of sodium dichromate or potassium dichromate and/or potassium permanganate. - The coil is washed and dried after the treatment.
