ABSTRACT:Luminescent-lead-activated alkaline earth metalrare earth metal borates having compositions defined by theformula Me1-PPbpLa1-x-y-yYxCdyDO?. Where Me represents stron-tium and/or calcium,where 0.005 ? P ? 0.30 and0 ? x ? 0.1, and where 0 ? y ? 0.5 when at least75 mole% of M? us /ca abd 0 ? y ? 0.1 when less than75 mole% of Me is Ca. The borate may be used in the lumi-nescent creen of low-preasure mercury vapour dischargelamps.
