ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA method and apparatus for accomplishing endotrachealsuctioning of a patient without having to disconnect the patientfrom a respirator. A suctioning tube is positioned in thetracheal tube through a wall of the respirator tubing set, ina manner maintaining the integrity of the respiration system.The technique is particularly useful for maintaining positiveend expiratory pressure without interruptions during suctioning.
