Process for manufacturing railway frogs from manganese steel, and process for connecting said railway frogs to rails made from carbon steel

The railway frogs are made of a cast steel containing 0.7 to 0.9% of carbon, less than 1% of silicon, from 13 to 15% of manganese and from 1 to 1.8% of molybdenum. They comprise connecting parts made of a steel containing principally chromium, nickel and manganese. The manufacture by casting of the railway frogs and their connecting to the end parts and to the rails, by welding, do not embrittle the steel of these railway frogs. These operations therefore may be carried out without being followed by an overhardening process. The invention is applicable in particular to the manufacturing and to the welding of the crossings on railway tracks.
