Left and right partial images are coded preferably in a complementary manner and, with the aid of an image-mixing means (7), are fed, via a common ray path (8), to a recording medium. The image-mixing means preferably comprises a screen mirror which permits one partial image to pass through in an unchanged manner onto the ray path (8) and guides the second partial image onto the same ray path by reflection. For better image resolution, the screen mirror can be arranged in a vibrating manner transversely to the line grid. The screen mirror can be combined with optical means, for collecting the left and right partial images, to form a lens attachment for commercially available movie cameras. In this manner, e.g. by means of a conventional camera lens, transferred partial-image sequences can be recorded, after decoding, onto conventional film, e.g. cine film. In this arrangement, the film itself may carry decoding elements. Image reproduction is carried out in the conventional manner, and, for watching cine film, left and right partial images are preferably coded and decoded in the same manner as when recording.
