Pretzel former Punches round the upper roll of a first pair cut out holes in the pretzel centres and hold the dough pieces in the punches for subsequent blowing out into the inside of the roll. A belt inside the roll assisted by a baffle plate receives the dough from the holes cut out thus and draws this off clear of the roll and the dough strip itself. In a second pair of rolls, one as driver and the upper as punch support, the outlines of the pretzels are cut out and the dough strip skeleton removed upwards allowing the pretzels to pass on out on their carrier belt. The hole punch dies taper towards their cutting edge to hold the hole in for removal later, whilst the shape punch dies expand towards their edge to ensure that the pretzel shapes remain on their carrier belt.
