The slide bearing carries a shaft (10) on the curved inner surfaces (30) of tilting segments (20) whose outer surfaces (31) bear inside a carrier ring (12). Each segment has at least one oil supply duct (26,28) with its orifice (34) on the inner surface (30). - At least one bore (40) connects the inner surface (30) of each segment with a recess (42) in its outer surface (31) so that, in operation, an oil film is formed between the ring (12) and the segment and the segment is carried exclusively by this film. Each segment may have oil supply ducts near both ends so that the leading end always receives oil irrespective of the direction of rotation whilst two bores (40) connect to two corresponding recesses (42).(1)
