method and device for the neutralization of acid and acidic pollutants in flue gases from combustion plants with residual heat recovery

In neutralising and sepg. acidic pollutants in fume gas from combustion units, a viscous suspension of alkaline solids, e.g. lime, in water is converted, using residual heat in the reaction, into dry neutral salts which with flue dust is removed by a standard separator from the discharge gases. The suspension enters the discharge flue in the unpressurised state and is atomised by a transverse current of steam. The amts. of alkaline material and steam are automatically adjusted to keep the neutralisation process generally stoichiometric. The system is esp. for refuse-burning units and uses steam instead of the previously known pressurised gas for feeding the neutralising material.
