Start=stop system for IC engine - has circuit putting start switch on standby only after ignition switch has closed and engine has attained given state
The engine stop button operates via a stop circuit. A start button resets the stop circuit and closes the starter motor's supply circuit long enough for the engine to start, i.e. long enough to attain a state - detected by a switch detecting the running of the engine - in which the starter motor's circuit is opened. A standby circuit puts the start switch on standby only after the ignition switch has closed and the engine has attained a given state, i.e. the detection switch has been operated. This prevents the engine being started inadvertently. A second detection switch is in series with the start button and senses when the engine is stationary. This switch ensures that the start button can only operate when the engine is not already running. A starter operating circuit may be used to close the starter motor's supply circuit automatically when the vehicle's speed exceeds a given limit after the engine has been stopped by the button.
