In a device for determining defective colour vision in the human eye, which consists of devices for producing individual beam paths of different colour and controllable intensity and of an observation surface which is composed of a composite field and a reference field, a prism block is provided which consists of a plurality of prisms which at least partially form deflecting or beam-splitting cubes. One or more detectors are present for the purpose of measuring the brightness of the composite or reference field as well as of the ratio of the brightnesses of the colours used to generate the composite field. The useful beam exit face of the prism block is preferably matt and serves as observing face.
