In a method for dividing and isolating bottles or vessels arriving on a plurality of tracks onto a single-row track, the vessels being forced away transversely to their actual direction of advance, then and subsequently being accelerated in their speed of advance and being guided together to form a continuous row, the object to be achieved is that of being able to process different types of bottles without problems. This object is achieved in that the belt speeds can be regulated and/or adjusted individually and/or in groups in proportion to their predetermined individual graduation, and the speed conditions predetermined for processing types of bottles can be stored and called up. By means of this measure, any desired setting, storage and call-up of the respective optimum speed graduations is possible, even with different types of bottles which are to be processed.
