A pipeline for transporting ecologically hazardous media which consists of a medium-carrying inner pipe and an outer pipe surrounding the inner pipe, a pressure which lies above the pressure of the medium being admitted to the space between the pipes, is composed of a multiplicity of works-prefabricated pipeline sections partitioned off at the ends. The pipeline sections consist of a smooth-walled metal pipe (1), a casing pipe (2) preferably arranged coaxially to the metal pipe (1), and a monitoring line which is arranged in the annular gap (3) and in which virtually the same pressure prevails as in the annular gap (3).
