The invention relates to a method of producing a print for plastic veneers, plastic films, floor coverings and the like, which are provided with a print by the gravure method using an electronically engraved printing cylinder (production cylinder). In order that prints can be produced more cost-effectively and, above all, in a manner which is closer to the original, a metal foil is to be applied to a cylinder and electronically engraved on its outside so that it is identical to the production cylinder and subsequently chromium-plated, the metal film then being detached from the cylinder and attached to a printing plate and used in this form for the print.
