A prefabricated, multi-part prestressing ring is mounted by means of one or more post-tensioned tendons arranged in prestressing channels within its cross-section on the damaged reinforcement, with interposition of a compensating mortar bed. The prestressing ring is unable to withstand any compressive forces in the circumferential direction in the joints, which remain open in this case, between its ring sections, so that the force of the tendons is fully transmitted into the container wall. After prestressing, first the prestressing channels are grouted, before the joints between the ring sections are filled.
