For measuring the amount of milk yielded by a cow during a milking operation or for monitoring the milk flow during the milking operation, an air separation chamber (1) to which a vacuum can be applied and which is connected to a milk feedline (2) and a measurement chamber (3) connected to the air separation chamber (1) via a closable milk inlet opening (4) and having a milk outlet (5) are arranged one above the other.
