A method for measuring the time between two pulses which is characterised by the fact that two pulses each, the distance of which is to be measured, are converted into logical signals by means of a comparator and a logical signal of the difference between the beginning of the two pulses (the front edges) and a logical signal of the difference between the end of the two pulses (the back edges) is supplied in equal proportions to a start/stop counting device or measuring device and is there used for determining the time. This avoids amplitude-dependent measuring and enables an amplitude-independent measuring from time average to time average of the two pulses which can recur any number of times.
