The invention relates to an automatic feed apparatus for bar-shaped material, especially for woodworking machines. The object of the invention is to provide an operationally reliable and less material-intensive feed apparatus which is of simple construction and which is cost-effective to produce. According to the invention, the object is achieved in that the tong-shaped clamping device consists of a lower lever equipped on the magazine side with a guide unit and of an upper lever equipped on the magazine side with at least one thrust piece.
