Bowl weight tester - uses controlled fall of bowl onto rubber pad with rebound measured and compared with that of master bowl

The apparatus is used for testing bowls, to ensure their weight is correct relative to a master bowl. It comprises a transparent cylinder on a weighted base, the top of the cylinder being open. The bowl to be tested is placed over the opening and held by pegs. A screw collar is rotated to release the bowl, which falls past a lever and onto a rubber pad. The lever is spring loaded to return to zero and is again struck by the bowl on the rebound, its deflection being used as an indication of the weight.
