Treatment of waste expanded polystyrene - giving prod. used in coating of moulding applications

Salvaging expanded polystyrene involves its dilution in a diluent such as S 30 DI Xylene. The expanded polystyrene can be given an preliminary treatment with acetone to reduce its vol. and facilitate its mixing the conventional appts 1 Kg 500 expanded polystyrene is mixed e.g. with 1 l of diluent to form a homogeneous paste. A filter, such as sawdust, metal filings, or cement can then be introduced, using e.g. 1kg filler per 2 kg 500 of paste. The prod. obtd. is used industrially in many coatings or moulding applications.
