The hermetically sealed centrifugal pump comprises a connecting shaft (10) inclined relative to and coupled to the impeller (12) and itself driven by a central drive shaft (4). The axes of the shafts intersect the arrangement being such that the ends of the shaft rotate about the central axis (15) whilst the shaft (10) itself does not rotate. The shaft (10) thus moves along a cone surface whose apex is at the point (11). The shaft may be carried in a ball joint positioned at the apex point.
