Prodn. of relief patterns on ceramic tile - uses typographic master plate to obtain moulded working plate in e.g. nylon reinforced rubber

The process uses a typographic master plate (7) to obtain working plates cast of e.g. reinforced synthetic rubber. The working plates are pressed onto the raw clay to obtain an imprinted decorative pattern. Reinforcement in the form of e.g. nylon mesh may be used. Casting may be effected using a rectangular mould with a flat base (6) and uniform walls (5). The master plate is placed in the mould, face up, and a fraction of the liquid rubber is poured. Reinforcement (9) is placed followed by a plane flat mould cover (8) with a pouring inlet (8a) and a vent hole (8aa) for completing the pour.
