During the final pressing into a hollow charge projectile of a pre-formed high explosive mixture, the final position reached by the charge is made permanent by an annular ring snapped into a corresp.recess in the projectile's inside wall. The outer edge of the hollow charge lining then abuts directly or indirectly against the snap ring. The appts. is also claimed. In artillery shells or rockets the war-head charge cannot undergo the relaxation and expansion after pressing which could cause porosity, decreased performance, or possibly a dangerous sepn. from the surrounding wall.
